Assembly Members across Ghana have started receiving monthly allowances of GHS1,300 each, as part of efforts by the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs to strengthen local governance under the Resetting Ghana Agenda.
At a press conference on Monday, July 14, sector minister Ahmed Ibrahim disclosed that a total of GHS23.6 million has already been disbursed to cover payments for April and May.
This follows the release of GHS25 million by the Ministry of Finance — the first tranche of a GHS100 million allocation outlined in the 2025 Budget.
“The NDC government has allocated GHS100 million in the 2025 budget statement and economic policy of Ghana to pay a monthly consolidated allowance to all Assembly Members in the country, both elected and appointed,” Ibrahim said.
