Arthur Kennedy Demands NPP Reform From Polling Station To Presidency
Dr. Arthur Kennedy, a senior figure in the NPP, has called for a full-scale renewal of the party’s internal democratic structures, as he warns about the risks of deeper decline if they continue to sideline accountability and shut out its base.
He revealed this in an open letter titled “Democratic Accountability,” where he criticised the current New Patriotic Party leadership for focusing on selecting a flagbearer without first renewing its mandate, which he labeled the move undemocratic and contrary to the spirit of the party’s founding principles.
Dr. Arthur Kennedy wrote, “The party leadership, whose mandate is due to expire, has decided that it wants to choose a flagbearer before renewing its own mandate.”
“This is a disgraceful attempt to sidestep accountability.”
He condemned the party’s increasing hostility toward internal criticism, describing what he sees as a “Fatwa” against dissenting voices, stressing the importance of restoring a culture where constructive feedback is welcomed rather than punished.
“The NPP suddenly issued a FATWA against criticism of the party,” He added
“In a democratic party, voices from the base should be encouraged, not silenced.”
