"LilWin’s ‘Music Career’: A Joke That Even Ghanaians Aren’t Laughing At?"

Kwadwo Nkansah, famously known as Lil Win has cemented his name as one of Ghana's greatest comedic actors. But when it comes to music, the story takes a different turn. Despite churning out hit songs like Mama Boss Papa, Ladder, Yie Mama, and Woto Mpo Ni, LilWin feels unrecognized and unappreciated in the music industry.

In a recent interview sighted by LordMajestyMidea, LilWin vented his frustrations: “I’m not considered a serious musician despite the number of hits I’ve released since I started my music career.” He further criticized award schemes, claiming some artistes are celebrated after just two hits while his “countless hits” are ignored.

But let’s pause for a moment—countless hits? To be fair, LilWin’s songs are fun and catchy, but are they the kind of tracks that make an artist legendary? Or are they just comic relief wrapped in a beat? Ghanaian music fans may vibe to his tunes for laughs, but serious recognition? That might be a stretch.

LilWin also blamed the system, saying artistes sometimes have to pay for awards. “But to pay for an award? I’d rather use that money to buy Kokonte,” he quipped, adding his signature humor to a rather bitter subject.

Here’s the thing: LilWin’s music thrives on his comedic personality, not his musical prowess. His songs are more about vibes than vocal or lyrical brilliance. Maybe that’s why he’s often seen as an entertainer rather than a musician.

The real question, however, is: Does LilWin truly see himself as a musician, or is he just upset that his side hustle isn’t paying off in trophies? Either way, we love LilWin for his talent in acting and comedy, but when it comes to music, maybe it’s time to accept that not all actors can transition into serious musicians.

So, LilWin, keep dropping those jams they’re great for a laugh but if it’s awards you’re chasing, perhaps the Ghana Movie Awards is still your best bet.
