It's a lie; no chief contributed a pesewa - Paramount Chief clears the air on Akufo-Addo statue
The Paramount Chief of Lower Dixcove, Nana Akwasi Agyeman IV, has refuted claims that Western Region chiefs funded the controversial Akufo-Addo statue.
He also suggested he and the other chiefs were 'forced' to unveil Akufo-Addo's statue.
Speaking on a Takoradi-based radio station, he stated, “No chief contributed a pesewa towards its construction. If any chief did, I’m yet to know.”
Nana Agyeman revealed he only learned about the statue during Akufo-Addo’s thank-you tour in November 2024, where he was asked to assist with its unveiling.
While he complied to avoid creating a scene, he clarified that his gratitude to the former President was personal and not on behalf of the chiefs.
